Dominic's song

Here's some music to go along with the slideshow of Dominic's baptism.

My brother did an older baptism rite with a Mexican flair.  The bread, salt and lime were all integral to the baptism.  We saved the tequila for later.  The older rite is all about the godparents, so Bill and I stood aside and while Mike and Paula dealt with the very unhappy baby.   He just didn't know what was best for him.  Good thing we're the parents, right?

First, nice blouse! :)
Second, does this mean we trade babies for Elizabeth / John's baptism?
Third, LOVE that Thomas and Anthony AND your brother were all part of the baptism.
Fourth, maybe Dominic was expecting tequila first?

What a saint! St. Dominic loved even the French!

A loose translation of the words to the song:

We eat the legs of frogs from the pond/ and snails from the garden/ and other things that look like snot.

Refrain: Our language is too good for you/ but we won’t reply to English./ Why use one vowel when you can use four?/

Being French we do not brush our teeth/ or take showers more than once a week./ Hygiene is for others. (Refrain)

We have not been important since Napoleon/ but we’re really too cool for NATO./ We’ve only rejoined so Germany won’t conquer us yet again. (Refrain)

I love it! You look great, the baby is too precious for words, and I envy that Fr Chrysostom was able to do the baptism ;-) What a great perk to having a priestly brother! Thanks for the post and the pics.

I love that song -- just don't read about that sister's life, it's depressing. Great pictures, the baby is adorable, you are so blessed with Father Chrysostom, and you look so fabulous! Congratulations and welcome to the Sheepfold, Dominic!

Lina--Confession has never been better! Yes, he's a Norbertine in Orange County, CA which is where my big 3 boys went to camp this summer. It was amazing!

Jenn, I've heard, but don't remember, the details about the singing nun :( but I love the song...even if it's in French. As you can tell, my family has great respect for the French.

Somehow I am skeptical of John's translation as there seem to be more verses in French than in English.

But here's a song for the kid's feastday yesterday:

Dominic, our Lady's champion,
Charged to publish wide her fame,
Sent to men to sound her Ave
And to speak her glorious name;
With the grace of God within you,
Like a hero lord you came.

Stainless as a burnished chalice,
Shining as a fiery brand,
Dominic, you came to help us,
Came to do your Lord's command,
With the grace of God within you
And the rosary in your hand.

Now again we need your goodness:
Be our patron and our guide.
Save us from all sin and error,
From our blindness and our pride;
With the grace of God within us,
May we stand close by your side.
